Description:
Documenting the changes of her psyche, Lucas worked on this painting over a span of a few years, using materials found around her. This piece began in the Summer of 2018, in her Manhattan apartment, and went on to, over time, add doodles and expressive brushed around pigments and spray painted phrases as experiences arose. This piece was completed in the Summer of 2021, after the artist's return to New York from her 6 Month long Art Residency in Mexico. Lucas was compelled to express her yearn for more nature that she missed from her time painting in the jungle at Villa Matisse. The painting ended up displayed at Assembly-woman Maritza Davilla's event at The Bushwick Generator in the Summer of 2021 to raise money for more food access programming to the Brooklyn community.
